Consumer and NCAP Crash Testing
At a glance
Millbrook carries out full frontal, side and pole development crash tests to the challenging consumer Global, US, Korea, China, Russia, Japan and Euro NCAP crash test protocols.

These tests allow customers to measure Anthropomorphic Test Device (ATD), or crash test dummy, injuries caused by the crash to inform a star rating for their vehicle. This information is then used to improve safety system and vehicle body structure design to maximize star rating in official NCAP crash tests.

Millbrook can carry out pole, side and frontal NCAP crash tests on full-electric cars and other vehicles with conventional, electric or hybrid powertrains.
Millbrook can record up to 450 analogue channels, including accelerometers, gyros, pressure transducers, load cells, current clamps and displacement. It also has a selection of Anthropomorphic Test Devices (ATDs), or crash test dummies, which are calibrated in-house for each test.
Cameras can be fitted on-board the test vehicle and around the facility to capture NCAP crash test footage. A mixture of “normal” speed cameras typically filming at 24fps and high-speed cameras filming up to 2,000fps at full HD are available.
