At a glance
Millbrook Proving Ground in the UK is the ideal location for driver training courses that tackle road safety and driving techniques, including self-driving vehicle safety driver training.
Millbrook’s test tracks are purpose-built to simulate real-life driving conditions. With a permanent base nestled in the middle of Millbrook’s famous Hill Route in the UK, CAT Driver Training uses each of these tracks to create a range of driver training courses.
A range of different scenarios and techniques can be perfected on Millbrook’s test tracks. For example, by making use of the Mile Straight to cover different braking scenarios, or the Hill Route and Outer Handling Circuit to work on cornering techniques, or using a combination of tracks to train autonomous vehicle safety drivers and operators To have such a diverse range of tracks all in one place makes Millbrook the perfect place to create driver training itineraries that test every type of necessary skill.
“If I were to design a location specifically for driver training, it would be identical to Millbrook.”
Millbrook’s maintenance team is always working hard to keep the tracks in the best condition possible, as well as offering any supporting services that driver training entities require. All of this ensures that driver trainers can feel confident and comfortable with their choice to host trainees on Millbrook’s tracks.
“We always feel confident training our customers at Millbrook. As businesses, we both have similar views in terms of putting safety and customer service first.”

Driver Training Days
Millbrook can also host driver training days or events. It has previously united with Luton Road Safety Team and Central Bedfordshire Council Road Safety Team with an aim of reducing road casualties, using a local initiative called “MORE” - Motivation, Observation, Response, Education.
MORE driver courses are for 17 to 30-year-olds who are learning to drive or have received their licence, and are living in Bedfordshire or Luton.
So far, the activities at Millbrook’s facilities have provided an excellent opportunity for people to learn a variety of driving techniques. The guests have rotated through four stations: safety briefing, driving element including skid experience, vehicle maintenance and buying advice, and, finally, another trip round Millbrook’s tracks to cover eco and hill driving.
Previous events have been geared around advice for those new to managing a car, and included a session from Honest John on what to look for when buying a second hand car, as well as advice on vehicle modifications.
